Bethany School Digital Archives

Welcome to our school's archives

Bethany School has been in existence since 1866.  We are delighted that we have succeeded in digitizing our documented history.  This was made possible because on the celebration of our 150th year we allocated sufficient funds to make this possible.  As you scroll through these Archives you will find copies of all our Bethanian magazines and it is our intention to digitize every aspect of our history.  This is very much a work in progress and we would welcome your views and suggestions for improvements.

Bethany School has been a home as well as a School to many thousands of pupils down through the years.  I hope that as you scan through the various documents you will see that, although Bethany has quite rightly adapted the ever changing needs of society through each decade, its core values are timeless.  We pride ourselves at Bethany on ensuring that each pupil is encouraged to achieve his or her potential, both inside and outside the classroom.  The characters and temperaments of our graduating pupils bear testimony to the all-round education and set up life experiences that they enjoy whilst here.  It has often been said that there is no nicer pupil than a Bethany one.  Speaking from personal experience I would agree with this wholeheartedly.

I hope that in addition to reliving your time at School by reading the information pertaining to your time here, that you will also spend time reading about earlier and later times, so that you get an even longer term perspective of all that is good about Bethany.

In addition, I would welcome your views and constructive suggestions on how to make these Archives even better.  I would welcome any other contributions that you may have preserved from your time at Bethany so that we can share them with all of your fellow Bethanians.

I would like to thank our current Archivist, Maggy Fillery, for her tireless work in structuring these Archives so that it was possible to digitize them.  In addition, I would like to express my gratitude to SDS Complete Website Solution and we will continue to work effectively with them in the years to come until every aspect of Bethany’s history is available digitally.

Finally, if you have any memories of Bethany that you would like to share with others, please inform us so that we can centrally collate all of your memories.  Which in turn will be made available in these Archives.

Yours sincerely
